The "Steampunk" genre is a kind of science fiction subgenre featuring retro-futuristic elements of technology usually inspired by the Victorian era or the American "Wild West" era. It is quite as well known as the cyberpunk subgenre. There are Japanese movies / TV series / mangas featuring elements of steampunk such as Porco Roso, Metropolis or Fullmetal Alchemist. Oh, and how could I forget about The Vision of Escaflowne :), another good example of steampunk style fiction.
