Even as a teacher I have my doubts…for example, is this a sunset or a dusk? Anybody to give me a hand on this one ?

I'd say the time of day shown in the photograph is dusk - the end of the transition period between day and night, almost dark. I wouldn't say that is a sunset. Sunset has already happened in this photo. The sun is well below the horizon.

It is a sunset (noun). Sunsets happen at dusk (time).
