What is "tall timber" in this context mean?
A friend says to his coach's friend that " Your boys (his basketball player team's member) are tall timber.

I think it depends on the context. Sometimes "timber" means trees that are being cut down, so perhaps the friend means that the boys in the basketball team are not only literally tall (because basketball players are often tall) but also arrogant and about to be put in their place? It is hard to tell without more information about the situation.
