Today is one of the 4 big traditional Chinese festivals ——Duanwu festival or Dragon boat festival, which falls on the fifth day of the fifth month in the lunar calendar, so I would like to pick up this topic today. And the other 3 big traditional Chinese festivals are Spring festival, Tomb-sweeping festival, and Mid-autumn festival, each festival has its symbolic food, I was surprised to realize that! It seems like we are totally a foodie haha. Alright, normally, people eat zongzi (sticky rice dumplings) in Duanwu festival, dumplings in Spring festival, green rice balls in Tomb sweeping festival, and mooncake in Mid-autumn festival. Although it's not all the same in different areas, but it's in general. and when Chinese talk about these 4 traditional festivals, we talk about public holidays. Although today is Monday, a work day, but actually it's a day off for us. And I'm really happy for that. By the way, the picture below is Zongzi I've eaten in this morning, it was wrapped up by bamboo leaves, and inside the zongzi is sticky rice and some fillings, such as beans, egg yolks, pork and so on. The flavor I've eaten in the picture is egg yolk mixed with pork. But if it were only with pork filled, it would be more delicious for me, because i don't like duck egg yolks haha.

I don't think I like egg yolk in Zongzi either. Happy 端午节!

Normally, people eat zongzi (sticky rice dumplings) for Duanwu Festival, dumplings for Spring Festival, green rice balls for Tomb-sweeping Festival, and mooncakes for Mid-autumn Festival. It's a little bit different in every region, but generally that's the case. When Chinese talk about these 4 traditional festivals, we talk about public holidays. Although today is Monday, a work day, it's actually a day off for us. And I'm really happy for that. By the way, the picture below is a Zongzi that I ate this morning. Very interesting, thank you for sharing!
