To be a good parent requires a lot of skills, but I would say that maybe one of the most important ones is the ability to welcome one's child's emotions. It is essential that any parent should be able to listen to how their child feels, and also to try and understand why they feel this way. Thus the child will feel secure and be able to grow up right. Of course, this ability implies that the parents themselves should be able to listen to their own emotions and control them in the first place.
