Professional TeacherI just found out Jay Park took down his new music video, “DNA Remix.” For those who don't know, this video was accused of cultural appropriation; many people claimed Jay Park and a few other rappers wearing dreadlocks in this video was offensive and an act of cultural appropriation.
So now Asians get slammed for wearing dreadlocks even though the hairstyle technically originated in ancient India (or Egypt) and had been worn by a bunch of Asians for centuries? 😂 Since when/why do they think it’s “their” hair when it’s actually just a hairstyle worn by many different races for different reasons.
From now on, I will get mad if someone wears Korean-style makeup and does K-pop dance covers. lol. (No, I won't. I don't give a crap. 😂 )

Hey Dylan. Interesting post, I'll definitely check out the Korean version as I am learning Korean ^^The thing is, we are people who are not black and who do not fully understand the black american experience. This is such a great topic that I wish I had more time to carefully dissect and discuss but I also understand that maybe, you're just looking for a way to vent your feelings (which I totally get too!). I think in the end, Jay Park isn't doing a crime--some people are definitely overreacting. But there's a reason for that and some validity in why these people feel a certain way. I hope you get the opportunity to one day sit down and chat with others who feel differently to challenge each other's mindset and background :) Cheers!
