does tori mean bird or chicken? i always see in japanese restaurants "tori ramen" is chicken ramen but i thought tori meant bird?

Yes, ”tori” means bird. But it also represents chicken when used in food, because 95% of birds we eat are chicken.
It is like "hana(flower)" in "花見 hana-mi " represents cherry.
