Hi there!
Actually, the expression is:
'(to) get something off your chest'
It means that there is something that to you have been thinking about a lot but haven't told anyone yet. When you decide to talk about it with someone, you 'get it off your chest'.
Example: 'I called my friend to talk about a few things that I needed to get off my chest.'
