I am absolutely convinced that if smoking were illegal , smokers and non smokers alike would be protected from the dangers of smoke. Do you wish.for it to sound more like spoken English? It certainly sounds natural, perhaps a little formal. Less formally, we might say: put a ban on cigarettes - that way, we protect both smokers and non smokers from the dangers of smoke.

I am firmly convinced that making smoking illegal would protect both smokers and non-smokers from the dangers of smoke. I am absolutely convinced that if smoking were illegal , smokers and non smokers alike would be protected from the dangers of smoke,
Certainly! Here's a revised version of your sentence: "I am firmly convinced that making smoking illegal would protect both smokers and non-smokers from the dangers of smoke."
