What's the meaning of "drop"? The bank said that the rate would need to rise again, but it ***dropped*** language referring to “multiple” increases.

I have to disagree with the others. Unfortunately, DROP has multiple meanings, some of which are fairly recent. DROP in this case means OMIT/LEAVE OUT/STOP. Similar examples: Everyone can go to school now, since the mask requirement has been dropped. The prisoner was released after the charges against him were dropped. His article was getting too long, so he dropped a paragraph that wasn't crucial.

You are right to question the meaning in this example. It's a bit confusing because "drop" usually means a decrease, and this is a paragraph that refers to the possible increase (or multiple increases) of rates. Personally I don't think it's a good choice of word (in this example). In this example it doesn't mean 'decrease'. It means to mention/to say/to insert as a comment that is not the main focus of the conversation: For example: "She dropped a remark about having visited Paris."

drop (or you may also see 'to fall' when talking about interest rates) = to decrease
