Hello! Could you please explain the difference between "wait for" and "wait on" to me? Thank you!

Hi Jessica. These terms are often interchangeable. But waiting for is more common, for example you can say, i am waiting for John to finish work or i am going to wait for my bus. You can also say I am waiting on John to finish work but you can't really say I am going to wait on my bus ...unless you mean that you are actually going to wait inside the bus
