British and American natives: In British English, how to separate the meaning of “apart from” for exception VS in addition to? Does “apart from” only mean “as well as” in American English?

Apart from takes away and in addition to, adds. I like Chinese food, apart from chicken feet. (Except chicken feet). I like Chinese food, apart from that, I normally eat bread. (Besides X, there's Y thing too). I like Chinese food, in addition to chicken feet. (Including chicken feet). I like Chinese food, as well as chicken feet. (Including chicken feet).
