Does anyone know an effective way to do a real language exchange? My experience so far has been with people who mostly want free English lessons, but when it’s my turn to practice, they either disappear or give one-word answers. I’d love to find a serious exchange partner for French or Spanish (A1–A2 level), offering English in return. Russian is also on my list, though I’ve only just started learning it.

Are you still interested in practicing? I'm learning English. I can help you with Spanish.

The method is less important than the relationship. You need to have common interests that you genuinely enjoy discussing. If you find that, which language you speak diminishes in significance. Each person concentrates on sharing his culture and helping the other. This is a hard thing to find.
