The fashion industry has been very criticesed that it destroys people´s lives. But is it really so?
Today, the brands are criticised thate our clothes come from India, Bangladesh and other developping countries where local workers are derisorily paid to make our clothes cheap enough. It is true, however, it is not only this branch that is to be pointed out. Several brands focus on well-being of their workers, there are projects to show who is irresponsible. It is on us, the customers, to support those who are worth it.
The superficiality of the fashion industry is another well known topic. Although we are all different, the brands only support unhealthily thin models and push us, mainly teenagers, to look the same way. But again, the reality is not so easy and the trend is about to change.
Last, but not least, the environmental footprint is there. We are being persuaded to buy huge amounts of new clothes even if we do not need them. More and more resources are used. It is on us to not follow this trend and to only buy what we need.
