What's the difference between the word stories and floors ?

Others have given you examples, but they can mean the same thing. Usually, people will say “this building has 30 stories, and the viewing platform is on the 28th floor. “
Story or stories gives you a general sense, and floor is more specific.

Floor is bottom part(the supporting surface) of a room. But storey (plural stories) is a complete level of a building.
