Professional Teacher*Why your partner cannot answer your grammar and language questions?*
When someone speaks a language well, it doesn’t always mean they can clearly state why certain grammar, pronunciation or usage “feels right.” Here’s a simple explanation:
First vs. Second Language Acquisition
First Language (L1): Acquired naturally from birth. Children learn by listening, interacting, imitating — they don’t study grammar rules, they absorb them.
Second Language (L2): Learned later, often with less constant exposure and more formal instruction. Learners may need to study rules, practice intentionally, make mistakes, and get feedback.
So this is why, your partner might not be able to explain those deep grammar questions that you get. He, she or they think as a first language and they don’t have the same clash of languages that you have or experience.
How to solve this issue?
Finding a professional language teacher that connects with you and understand your needs is crucial.
