Some CAE Questions Example 1: Essay Task: Write an essay discussing two of the facilities in your notes. You should explain which facility is more important for local authorities to give funding to, giving reasons in support of your answer. You may, if you wish, make use of the opinions expressed in the discussion, but you should use your own words as far as possible. Notes: Public libraries Sports centers [Your own idea] Example 2: Proposal Task: Your local council is considering closing a sports and leisure center that it runs, in order to save money. Write a proposal to the council. In your proposal, you should explain the importance of keeping the center open for the community and suggest ways in which the running costs could be reduced. Example 3: Letter Task: You have recently attended a job interview, which you were not selected for. Write a letter to the company. In your letter, express your disappointment, politely ask for feedback, and mention your continued interest in working for the company in the future. Example 4: Review Task: Write a review of a new gadget, book, or movie that you have recently tried, read, or watched. In your review, describe your initial impressions, how it compares to other similar products or works, and whether you would recommend it. Example 5: Report Task: Your class has attended a panel discussion on what methods governments should use to discourage the use of private cars in the center of the city. Write a report for a university lecturer describing the most significant points discussed and what might work.
