Yes it's probably because we have been colonized by the Spaniards for a very long time. Some of the words we used came from the spaniards.

I took a wild guess, because I know Spanish is one of the languages spoken in the Philippines. Are you saying that "banyo" is the word in Tagalog? Presumably borrowed from Spanish?
