My goal
I still believe I have reserves of willpower to rise like a phoenix again to crack the interview. I know I have faced failures in turn in all nine attempts. What avails? If you don't try . It is better to get one step closer to this fleeting aim that to seeing the time passing.

Goal Statement:
"I firmly believe that I possess untapped reservoirs of willpower that will enable me to emerge triumphantly, much like a phoenix rising from the ashes, and conquer the upcoming interview. Recognizing that I've encountered setbacks throughout all nine of my previous attempts, I remain undeterred. After all, what is the value of not attempting? Progressing even a single step nearer to this evasive objective is of greater consequence than idly watching time elapse."

I still believe I have reserves of willpower to rise like a phoenix again to master the interview. I know I have faced failures in all nine (successive) attempts. What avails? Nothing if you don't try . It is better to get one step closer to this fleeting aim than to see the time (simply) passing.
'Crack' the interview could work on a technical level. But it's a different kind of jargon than your other words, more informal.
'In turn' could go at the end of the sentence. It doesn't really add anything here though.
