Hi,. Could you tell me about the word ' legit'? Could it have the meaning of ' the same ' ? I think it has started to be used very informally. Thank you

Hello! "Legit" means that something is legal or that it's trustworthy. It can also be used to describe something that is very good. Here are some examples: "So, is this a good way to make money online? Is it legit?" "The film was legit, truly amazing. I loved every second of it." I hope to have helped you!

It doesn't mean "the same." It is an informal shortening of the word "legitimate." So it can mean a wide range of things like authentic, valid, or simply "good." It is often opposed to "scam" or "fraudulent." "Pop-up COVID-testing sites are appearing in Oakland. Are they legit?" "Are these diet pills legit or are they a scam?"

Legit means “Legítimo” in Spanish and Portuguese. But I think people on the internet use it to agree with the other person, something like “true!”. I also saw it being used to say that something is relatable.
