In middle school I read “1984”, and it changed my opinion on politics
completely. “1984”, written by George Orwell, depicts a world where the masses
are controlled by Big Brother Cooperation. In this suffocating world, the
protagonist tried to find his love, and he did then. However, as his deed
was detected by the police, he, as well as his lover, was arrested. Suffering from
the BBC’s torture, the protagonist surrendered, starting to think as the BBC
requested. At last, he chose to die voluntarily for BBC who had just tortured
him. As a bullet shot through his head, his mind ended, and his story along with
it. In my mind, the story satires the psychological control by the government, and
thus it has changed my opinion toward politics completely.
