Comparing men's and women's ice hockey
This Olympic games I have been watching ice hockey. It is very interesting for me to see men's and women's matches.
There are some obvious differences, such as slower skating and less powerful shots in women's hockey. Also, (the men have?) more aggressive fights with the opponent, when it comes to getting the puck. It seems to me that men take shots at the goal from longer distances as well. That may be because men are stronger; therefore, their shots are quick and effective even from the blue line.
What surprised me a lot is that women tend to pass less to their teammates than men do, except for American and Canadian women. The other women usually hold the puck as long as possible instead of passing it. I do not know if they just want to score at the Olympics, or if they are afraid of losing the puck, or if they do not care about cooperation, which is a very necessary part of hockey.
