In addition to being a verb like in Ravisha's examples, "compromise" can also be a noun:
They reached a compromise.

an agreement in an argument in which the people involved reduce their demands or change their opinion in order to agree
If you compromise in an argument, it means that you (and the other person) will have to reduce what you want from each other to reach a solution that you both can agree on.
For example:
Well, you want $400, and I say $300, so let's compromise on $350.
