Professional TeacherHave you heard of “GD disease (지디병)”? This is an internet slang term that refers to one’s toxic tendency to imitate the style and gestures of the K-pop icon G-Dragon(GD), who’s well known for his unique style. In Korean, we would say, “(그는) 지디병에 걸렸다 (He has GD disease).”
As you may guess, we use this expression to poke fun at someone who’s trying too hard to look like GD. It’s because we all know that you’re never going to look as cool as GD no matter how hard you try 😂. Funnily enough, many netizens accuse Lee Chan Hyuk of AKMU of having GD disease these days lol.
Do you guys have these types of “diseases” in your country? I know for a fact that many American girls tried to imitate Billie Eilish's "resting bxxxx face" for a while 😂.

Not surprised that such a phenomenon exists. In my entourage no one is interested by 한류. For me personally, he is the man who made himself and I really like his art and style. But I totally agree that blind imitation is ridiculous and useless. You always have to be yourself, but there must be people who inspire you to change :)
