I think there could be a few reasons why some people get promoted. First, when people show that they have the skills for a higher position. For example, they have the knowledge, the experience and the motivation. Second, people could get promoted if they have shown that they can managed projects and people by themselves and also, they handle their current job perfectly. And finally, I think another reason could be that they have friends that help them get promoted. In conclusion, people should always be looking for something new and not be stuck in the same position all their lives.
