Professional TeacherJob Interview Practice:
"Tell me about yourself"
Food for thought: I am a big fan of a SIMPLE ANSWER to:
"Tell me about yourself"
Firstly, this is a DIFFERENT question than "Walk me through your CV" or "Tell us about your work history" etc.... In those questions you can give a detailed step by step story of your career. Not in this question.
Secondly, a short, direct and concise answer is a MANAGER'S DREAM when they think about their team members' communication style - Who wants a talkative team member?!?!
Thirdly and now most importantly, this opening question gives you the chance to CLEARLY state your 'brand', your image, the core ideas about you!
Possible template:
Statement about Past
Statement about Present
Statement about Passion
Statement about Next Step
Passion statement = "your brand"
Next Step statement = "Why am I here & why we are talking"
Possible answer:
Hello my name is Adam, I have been a teacher and a business owner for over 20 years, right now I am growing Native Listener as a new start up, I am passionate about helping people achieve the most they can in their career, and my next step is to start recruiting more teachers for our online feedback service"
