No, missed sounded like an accident. Skipped sounds like it's on purpose.

I concur with the others. They have the same broad meaning, but there's a difference of intent - skipped seems more intentional than missed - but not strictly - it's just subtly inferred.

I agree with Niquey. Missed is unintentional. Skipped is a decision not to attend.
