Today was scorching hot, so sunny that it felt like being inside an oven. In the morning, I took my ABRSM singing exam. For the first time, I arrived at the studio earlier than Vivian. Everything went smoothly, and I’ll get the results in months. Dear! What takes that long? However, I’m confident it’s a sure pass—fingers crossed! Later, I spent the rest of the day working on algebra. They say the biggest challenge in primary school math is variables. I hope I can master them too, only if it were that easy.

"Scorching hot is perfectly fine, but it's much more common (especially in Australia) to just say, "it's a scorcher." Especially when your next sentence clarifies your talking about the sun and heat. Well done.
