Acting virtuously keeps us connected to our own wisdom, keeps us in contact with our own wisdom, reminds us of our wisdom. Any of those make sense to you?

Keeping someone or yourself grounded means keeping them rooted or with a solid base.
For example we might say about a person who suddenly becomes famous or very rich that hopefully they have a strong network of family and friends or a good set of values to keep them grounded.
