Hi everyone, I am a web designer and technical architect working with international clients. I find that while I can write technical emails easily, I struggle with 'Business English' during live calls—especially when I need to explain why a website's performance is more important than its visual style. I often get stuck on words when trying to describe 'speed' and 'efficiency' in a professional way. Does anyone have recommendations for podcasts or resources that focus specifically on English for Tech Professionals? Or perhaps some common idioms used in the tech industry to describe high-quality work? Thank you in advance for your help!

I you are explaining website performance, it seems like what you are lacking is technical vocabulary and not business vocabulary. Or are you trying to explain why better website performance equals more revenue for the company?

First of all — your written English here is excellent. 👍 Your issue is not language ability, it’s live business fluency under pressure. That’s very common for technical professionals. Since you’re a web designer and technical architect working with international clients, I’ll focus specifically on English for tech calls, not general business English. Why it's good for you: Real conversations between developers and architects Natural explanations of technical trade-offs Great for learning how experts explain complex ideas simply Focus on episodes about: Performance Scaling Infrastructure UX vs Engineering decisions 2️⃣ 🎙️ Software Engineering Daily Good for: Architecture discussions Technical decision-making language Explaining trade-offs professionally Listen carefully to how guests say: “There’s a trade-off between X and Y…” “From a performance standpoint…” “At scale, this becomes critical…” 🔑 Professional Alternatives for “Speed” and “Efficiency” Instead of saying: ❌ “The website must be fast.” Say: ✅ “Performance is a priority.” ✅ “Load time directly impacts conversion.” ✅ “Page speed affects user retention.” ✅ “We need to optimize for responsiveness.” ✅ “Latency needs to be minimized.” ✅ “This impacts time-to-interactive.”
