Hi. Is the following sentence correct:

What I'm trying to say is: when I was a student, I often did exercise. I did karate and played sports, among other things.

こんにちは☀️
あなたの にほんご は じょうず ですね👍🏻
I would say...
わたしはがくせいのとき、よくうんどうしました。からてをしたり、スポーツをしたりしました。
Verb[A]たり + Verb[B]たり+ する…do such things as A and B.
You can use AたりBたり when you want to list multiple examples.

If you want to say you did various sports among other things, you could say いろいろなスポーツをしました。Since karate and "sports" are listed side by side, "sports" sounds like a single, specific name.

私は学生の時、 よく運動しました。空手のようなスポーツなどをしました。
Your sentence is mostly correct but the second half sounds more like you did sports or karate with the や。
You could try ような which acts as a simile but here acts as a “such as”. など functions as an etc.
Karate のような sports などをしました
I played sports such as karate.
Please free to correct me.
Kanji (漢字)
