What does "a shot at redemption" mean? Please explain with example sentences

It means a chance to redeem oneself. For example, suppose a tennis player loses several tournaments. It looks like maybe he has no future playing tennis. Then he has a chance to play against a very good player. If he can win, he can redeem his reputation. He has a shot at redemption.
