I think the best methods are the natural ones. For exemple, to talk to native speakers, to write to real persons, to visit countries where they speak that language, to see films, etc.
But you need grammar as well. In my opinion, it must be a complement, not the main learning activity, because grammar, as an isolated activity is a meaningless thing.
