Hello! Is anyone out there just like me pronouncing the word " selfie 🤳" as it's written. ( There is an outdated word called fie so...)
I would pronounce it like sel-fai but sel-fee.
And find lol the correct pronunciation of it very strange to my ears lol

The "-ie" suffix reminds me of the "-ie" in "freebie" or "newbie" or "onesie" or "walkie talkie" or the "-y" suffix in "dummy" or "fatty"

I'm from Nottingham so if I had a strong Nottingham accent I might say 'sell-feh' ('eh' like the 'e' in 'echo')! But I would agree with the others that 'SELL fee' is most typical.

I think most people say ‘sell fee’ with the stress on the first syllable.
