Professional TeacherFor those of you learning English and other languages, is it true that English is a relatively easy language to learn in your experience? What are the biggest difficulties that you have when learning it and how does it compare to learning other languages? I personally believe that the basics of English are relatively easy, however it becomes very difficult to master the language once you get to a high level. What do you think about this?

The most difficult for me is SPEAKING :(
Because of my accent there are a lot of sounds I'm struggling with. Besides, understanding different English accents a challenge. Likewise, I'm experiencing a language plateau since it's not easy to see a real progress when you have an intermediate level.

Some things about English can be quite challenging for learners. For example, the way a word is said often doesn't seem to make sense when you compare it to how the word is spelled.

I agree that English is relatively easy when it comes to learning the basics, but mastering a higher level, understanding the nuances and achieving an easy-going fluency is not that easy. It takes a lot of practice and paying close attention to movies and TV shows with characters that speak as naturally as possible.
