'Put the ball in'.
This can be into the goal, or in the context of this example, into the box.
e.g. Hernandez knocked the ball in towards Ibrahimovic, but his shot was saved.
A player could also 'pick up a knock', meaning to get an injury (usually not a serious one).
e.g. Mane is unavailable today as he picked up a knock in the match against City.
