'Advise us/you/... to' and 'Advise + Ving', is it correct? Example:
'After the accident, my father advised 'us to consult/consulting' a lawyer.'

That depends on whether or not we mention the person who received the advice:
After the accident, my father advised us to consult a lawyer.
After the accident, my father advised consulting a lawyer.

"Advise" is followed by the infinitive but not the gerund.
My father advised us to call a lawyer.
