I think social skills should be taught in the school.
Social skills are indeed a vital part of our careers and even day-to-day living. With social skills, we can communicate with our colleagues more comfortably and effectively. Therefore, work can be done more efficiently. Besides, having better social skills enables us to establish and maintain better friendships. We can be more connected and build deeper understandings of each other. Our social health can be improved due to a wider social support network.
However, students lack social skills nowadays. They often emphasize too much on academics. Hence, they tend to spend tons of time to prepare for tests and exams. Their time for building peer relationships is exploited. Lacking the opportunities to practise social skills, they gradually lose touch with social skills.
To sum up, I strongly recommend the school to teach students social skills. Whether delivering some basic knowledge of social skills or offering chances for students to interact with different people, it helps students to develop social skills, which are beneficial to their future careers and interpersonal relationships.
