I have a question about the use of prepositions.
Do we say "on tight budget" or within "tight budget"?

Both are ok.
We are on a tight budget - we don't have much money.
We need to keep it within a tight budget - we have to spend less than a certain amount.

“On A tight budget is fine.
You can also say:
“We have a tight budget”.
