Great. I especially like your use of reported speech. I don't know why you used the past perfect with "had been taken into custody." Does this paragraph relate to the paragraph before? We need another context in the past against which to contrast the past perfect when we use it. That context can be implied, but if you did imply one, I can't see it. Otherwise, fantastic work!
