CAMBRIDGE C1 ESSAY PRACTICE: How can individuals protect the environment through their home energy policy? After the recent college debate I participated in, I have found myself considering all the opinions expressed at the event. From my point of view, there would be two possible solutions to save energy, namely the replacement of heating systems and the subsidised solar panels. It is certainly true that individuals' contribution can make the difference, but the government should also do its part in raising awareness on this topic. SUN IS FREE! Solar panels has always deemed to be the ultimate source of energy. Not only is this entirely true, but they also present many advantages that we still do not have a clue of. Research has shown, indeed, that only 5% of British homes take full advantage of sun energy. Furthermore, only 11% should be willing to install solar panels. Surprisingly, even tough sun is the most inexpensive and clever way to produce energy, we do not seem to understand how lucky we are. Yes, because sun is free! HEATING SYSTEMS: TIME TO CHANGE! There is a large amount of heating systems that do use much more energy than they should. While the majority of them are rather old, others are new but need to be "adapted" and recreated in terms of environmental respect. I firmly believe that these two initiatives would give people the opportunity to feel as an active part in society while saving our planet. But when will this be possible if the goverment does not act? How can citizens be aware of the benefits involved if they neglect environment as a whole? I am confident that focusing on this issue, rather than money, will change everything for real. P.S: This text is meant to be formal. Please feel free to write everything you think is necessary in terms of register! I need to improve on "formal writing" to pass the exam :)
