There is a special song which impacts on my life called Gönülçelen (heartbreaking) by Teoman and the name of a book translated by Adnan Benk. This book is the inspiration for his song of the same name. Although we could not find a result when we wrote “gönülçelen” to the Turkish Language Institution(TDK), Teoman explained what it means very well in his song. The catcher in the rye is published in 1951 by J.D. Salinger and this book has two different translations in Turkey. One of them is by Çoşkun Yerli, translated the original title of “The Catcher in the rye” as "The children in the rye (Çavdar Tarlasındaki Çocuklar)”. However, the first translation of the book is from French in 1967 and Adnan Benk translated the French word "L'Attrape-cœurs" as "Gönülçelen" (Heartbreaking). After Teoman read this book in his childhood, he impacted on this book and gave its name to the album. Therefore, he hasn’t not only 10-15 all versions of The Catcher In The Rye at his home, but he has also French version of the book although he doesn’t even speak French. And also, his intention is to collect those in other languages. Loving and listening to this song was not enough for me when I discover this story, that’s why I had to read this book. But unfortunately, I had to read it from the English translation by Yapı kredi publications since Can publishing is no longer published. Although I searched for the French translation a lot, I could not find it. Finally, a copy of the book from the pocket of Mark Chapman, who killed the musician John Lennon, a member of The Beatles. Following the assassination of Lennon in 1980, a copy of the book was found in the apartment of John Hinckley Jr., who attempted to assassinate US President Ronald Reagan in 1981, and the same book appeared on John Bardo, who killed actress Rebecca Schaeffer in 1989, causes the book to be perceived as a kind of killer item. Following these cases, the book is banned or censored in many schools in America.
