You may have your eggs scrambled, poached, coddled, or boiled
Can you tell me the difference between poach and coddle in this sentence?

Eggs are poached by breaking the egg directly into boiling water. Eggs are coddled by breaking the egg into a container then putting the container into boiling water. You can also coddle eggs in a microwave - break the egg into a cup and microwave it.

In the United States, scrambled, fried, and boiled eggs are common. Poached eggs are somewhat common. Coddled eggs are so rare that I've never made them, never eaten them, and need to look them up to remember what they are (see Glenn's answer).
