Yo = I
Soy = I am
Then 🤔 "Yo soy" means "I I am", the answer it's not it's completely superfluous, but sometimes we include this redundant pronun to add emphasis for example:
"Soy el mejor"
"Yo soy el mejor"

En español no es necesario usar el pronombre en las oraciones. A eso se le conoce como sujeto tácito, el sujeto no está presente en la oración pero se deduce gracias a la conjugación del verbo.
Tengo mucha hambre - Yo tengo mucha hambre
Puedes escribirlo o no y es correcto tanto en la oralidad y en lo escrito.
En français pour example on doit toujours mettre le pronom dans les phrases.
J'ai faim et pas j'aime ai faim
Je suis heureux et pas suis heureux

Si, en español puedes decir solo ... soy, eres, somos.. ya que la misma palabra te indica de quien estás hablando, puedes úsalo pero aveces queda un poco raro si lo utilizas muy seguido.

Both are ok.
Hi, I'm a spanish speaker, and it is completely acceptable to use both of them. We usually use "yo soy" to emphasize the noun "yo". It's the same with the others.
