Community Tutor🐱 Cats: Fun Japanese idioms for beginners!
こんにちは!I'm Sakura Yoko, a new Japanese tutor.
🌸Today, let’s learn a fun Japanese idiom using animals.
🐱 猫の手も借りたい (ねこのて もかりたい - Neko no te mo karitai)
猫の手 (Cat's paw) 🐾 + も (also) + 借りたい (want to borrow)
🤝Meaning: To be so incredibly busy that you would accept help from anyone—even a cat!
💡 Why cats? Cats have a reputation for just sleeping and relaxing all day. So if you are willing to borrow a cat's tiny paw for help, it means you are super busy!
❓ Question for you:Are you busy today? Or are you relaxing like a cat?Try practicing in the comments: 「きょうは 〇〇です。ねこの ても かりたいです!」 (Today, I am...I want to borrow a cat's paw!) ✨
