It's Dragon Boat Festival today, a national holiday! I woke up early and wasted no time diving into some quality game master time (gotta make the most of a day off, right?).
Later, my great grandma swung by with rice puddings! A fun fact, people in the north prefer them sweet, but folks down south go all savory with meat fillings. As for me, I have to pass – a little too sticky and chewy for my taste (always ends in a bloated stomach!).
Even with no rice pudding for me, it was a fantastic day off. Relaxing and goofing around – perfect!

It's the Dragon Boat Festival today, a national holiday! I woke up early and wasted no time diving into some quality game playing time (gotta make the most out of a day, right?). Later, my great grandma swung by with sweet rice tamales. Note that sweet rice is just another (American) way to say sticky rice even though sweet rice is not sweet. A fun fact, people in northern China prefer their rice tamales sweet by adding sweet syrup, but folks down south go all savory with a pinch of salt, a few pieces of pork, lots of beans and an egg yolk fillings. As for me, I have to pass – a little too sticky and chewy for my taste, and I always ended up with a bloated stomach! Even with no Chinese sweet rice tamales for me, it has been a fantastic day off. I am relaxing and goofing around – perfect!!

I can’t remember if I told you, but I never really liked zongzi.
