Can anyone tell me what’s the difference between animation and cartoon? Thanks!

Animation is the technique in which you present a short or feature film, you could also call it a way in which you can make known a story or idea that is not necessarily aimed at a child audience but at a specific or perhaps general part of society . On the other hand, a cartoon is a animated draw and generally aimed at a more childlike audience

They are roughly the same, but animation has additional meanings. The true meaning of ANIMATION is to bring something to life. In this case, it means bringing pictures to life.

I think cartoons are based on pictures.
Animation includes cartoons but also includes 3D like Wallace & Gromit.
