The Tim じぁん!!!
It's sunny today, and since my winter break has begun, I can arrange my schedule freely. I decided to go jogging after lunch. Unfortunately, due to the construction site, the park, and more importantly, the athletics track, has shrunk a lot. Despite the size of the track being reduced, I managed to complete nine laps, which was three more than usual. Afterward, I made a new friend while I was resting on the swings. A very talkative girl sat next to me and even kicked off a shoe while swinging. We all laughed. However, soon after, some others arrived and glared at us. I understand now that we couldn't occupy the swings for too long, right? Everyone should take turns. The park should have built more swings.

Despite is not correct here. It would be correct if the track had been made longer. It is now shorter so it is not so surprising you can do more laps.
