I am encouraged to read books in my targeted language, but I could not resist the instant understanding by reading in my own language. I think this comes to the quality of one’s patience. In the past, I was beneficial to digital books. However, I carried a paper book along with my long holidays this time, since I know I would have time to finish it. The book I chosen was The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne. To be honest, it’s hard to fall in love with some book, but it’s totally okay to appreciate those good books personally. Hawthorne’s The Scarlet Letter was his masterpiece, in which he told a tragic story about a triangular love among three characters. It was shorter than I had expected on a novel, but the story was very clear and the narrative way was very attractive. I am awed by Hawthorne’s writing, even though I didn’t read much of his original words. I rarely read such a novel narrated by the author obviously and entirely, reader can therefore easily learn the moral spirit given by the author. It’s a book written three centuries ago, its main theme might not suit for today’s era, but tremendous study values remain.

I am encouraged to read books in my targeted language, but I could (can?) not resist
the instant understanding by reading in my own language. I think this comes down to
the degree of one’s patience. In the past, I was partial to e-books.
However, I brought along a paper book on my long holidays this time, since I
know I would have time to finish it. The book I chose was The Scarlet Letter by
Nathaniel Hawthorne. To be honest, it’s hard to fall in love with some books, but
we can still appreciate those good books personally. Hawthorne’s The
Scarlet Letter was his masterpiece, in which he told a tragic story about a
love triangle among three characters. It was shorter than I had expected for a
novel, but the story was very clear and the narrative style was very attractive. I
am awed by Hawthorne’s writing, even though I haven’t read much of his original
words. I rarely read such a novel narrated by the author obviously and entirely and in these cases, the
reader can easily learn the moral spirit of the author. It’s a
book written three centuries ago, and while its main theme might not suit today’s era,
tremendous study values remain in reading it.
Great work.
