How do you say ‘I am on bed’ or ‘I am in bed’ why?

You would say "I am in bed" because it suggest you are under the covers and about to rest. If you say "I am on the bed" it means that you are not using the bed for sleeping but to sit or it's where you happen to be at that moment.
